Data Protection and transparency when computers imitate humans: The problems faced by Google Duplex

Wrigley, S. (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentation typesOral presentation

Description

I spoke about the issues raised when an artificial intelligence phones a human being. These issues include the fact that the General Data Protection Regulation's information rights are biased in favour of on-screen, internet-based communications; that it can become difficult for controllers to comply with their GDPR requirements while still providing a useful service; and the pros and cons of having a right to know that you are interacting with a machine.
