Description
Through participating in the course, which I co-taught with a PhD student colleague, students gained an overview into key theoretical and methodological debates and concepts related to ethnographic research. During the course, students practiced their skills in participant observation and interviewing, and developed fieldwork plans for their own master's theses. Alongside practicing fieldwork skills, a number of themes were discussed, such as the relationship between theory and data, research ethics, positionality, reflexivity in knowledge production, and the limitations of and possibilities offered by adopting an ethnographic approach in multidisciplinary Development Studies.
