Goal of training
This one day intensive seminar helps you to be more convincing in either Finnish or English.

There are no other predefined objectives for this training. There are, however, certain conditions within which you will find the course helpful for you. Andy and Steve, the trainers, define them as follows:

You need to communicate both internally within the University and also with other university colleagues both inside and outside Europe. Part of your job may also involve you building both partnership and interest with the business community.

You may already be confident with English and you are looking for some advanced ideas or you are also looking for new tools to make it easier for you when you need to communicate in English or you need to convince people using Finnish and want to more persuasive and get good results in meetings.

Some of the challenges you face include how to
* get interest in your ideas and be more convincing
* sell your ideas to colleagues in and outside your university in a recession
* get a win win result when negotiating (either internally or outside the university)
* do well and sell yourself in job interviews and in world outside Academia
* develop your lobbying, networking and social skills

Content of training
During the workshop you will get theory, practice and feedback on
* Essential and advanced selling skills
* Tools to persuade people from different cultures
* How to find out hidden needs
* How to deal with difficult questions and negative attitudes.
