    Description

Teacher in the Training Course on Bayesian network analysis including the socio-cultural dimension.

Bayesian Networks (BNs) are a flexible modelling method that can be used in various ways to address different types of research questions.

    Objective
This course will introduce the basics of Bayesian Network modelling and discuss how the method can be used to address questions related to social-ecological systems.

Their strength comprises the ability to combine different types of data and knowledge, as well as include, integrate and represent uncertainty. The graphical nature of BNs makes them easy to communicate across scientific disciplines, and to diverse groups of stakeholders.

The course will include hands-on exercises using free-of-charge software that the attendees are expected to install on their computers before the course.  During the course, the participants will also have a chance to discuss their own research questions, and get help and feedback for modelling them using Bayesian Networks.

    Level
No previous knowledge of Bayesian modelling or any specific software product is required, but a good working knowledge of personal computers is expected.
