Description
This session focuses on connections and collaborations between researchers and musicians and the various factors that may influence them. The session takes the form of a discussion between the participants of the project “World Wide Women – female musicians crossing borders and building futures”. The project team consists of researchers and musicians who all have experience of transcultural collaborations as part of their academic and artistic work. Therefore, the discussion will concentrate on themes that are central to both ethnographic fieldwork and to musical collaborations, such as questions relating to cultural differences and power relations in professional encounters, the collaborators’ positionalities and values, music and musicianship as a point of connection, modes of communication between collaborators, and the intersubjectivity of knowledge formation. With this discussion we aim to demonstrate the importance of collaboration in the field of music, in particular between researchers and musicians, as well as the necessity of building connections across cultural, social and musical borders.Period | 5 May 2022 |
