    Questions from social sciences in Suomi24 data analysis

    Abstract: The Suomi24 data set recently opened in Language Bank of Finland contains 53 million comments in nearly 7 million discussion threads from past 15 years, thus offering a unique resource for studying the society through public discussions. However, the research potentials of this kind of data for societal research are largely not yet understood. We explore the initial analysis of this data set from a number of perspectives relevant for social sciences. Also requirements for tools are discussed.
