Organelle assembly and evolution

Dunn, C. (Invited speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

"In this talk, I will describe recent work in my laboratory on the topics of organelle biogenesis and evolution. First, I will discuss a novel hypothesis regarding the initial function of the mitochondrion in eukaryotic cells. Second, I will present our theoretical work relating organelle protein targeting to the subject of eukaryotic evolvability. Third, I will discuss our findings regarding positive selection in the mitochondrial genome, and how novel phylogenetic approaches developed in my laboratory have been deployed to predict the pathogenicity of mitochondrial polymorphisms."
