Thoren, H. (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Although the concept of resilience has relatively recently become the locus of considerable ‘buzz’, not least in the emerging interdisciplinary field of sustainability science, it has a comparatively long history in disciplines such as ecology, psychology and material science. In this talk I will provide a brief historical overview of the use of the concept in these disciplines and how it has changed over time as the concept has spread into new scientific domains. The talk will focus on several dimensions of conceptual change and diversity and the philosophical implications of that diversity.
