Description
In this workshop organized in connection with the International Forest Policy Meeting 5 (IFPM5), Prof. Sabelo Ndlovu-Gatsheni (Chair of Epistemologies of the Global South, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Bayreuth) will deliver a keynote speech to encourage participants to reflect on the contemporary politics of knowledge (for example, reflecting on identity, experience, geography and biography of knowledge, ideology, technology, and positionality), among other topics.Following the keynote, as a participant you are encouraged to join a group discussion aimed at reflecting on your positionality and power dynamics within your research practices. Highlighting the importance of reflecting one’s own identity, we invite you to incorporate a decolonial approach into your research endeavors. Questions like "What shapes my research?" or "How can I incorporate decolonial approaches into my research?" will be explored during the workshop through a reflective and discussion session and the sharing of knowledge.
While the invited speaker for the workshop is Prof. Sabelo Ndlovu-Gatsheni, the discussion and reflection session will be organized by Sophia Hagolani-Albov (Doctoral researcher in the TreesForDev project).
