Title Indigenous Knowledge in the Contemporary World Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet DongXiNanPei Radio Program Media type Radio Duration/Length/Size 40 minutes Country/Territory Finland Date 15/01/2019 Description "The indigenous knowledge is a dying culture or an ancient wisdom? Anthropologists and linguists say that every two weeks a unique language disappears with its last surviving speaker. As we celebrate our life in the 21st century, about half of the world’s 7,000 human languages were not being spoken or taught to younger generations. Can you imagine this happening to your own language — to your own people or culture? But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Along with language, also disappearing are the arts, crafts, vocational skills, folklore, and customs of many traditional and indigenous peoples. When we are crying for the social actions to the climate change, we are at the same time stealing away the livelihood where the indigenous groups have been coping with the nature for over thousands years. The modern world needs the perspectives and wisdom of indigenous and traditional peoples now more than ever. In the 21st century, sustainability is no longer a buzzword but a necessity, and there are some valuable lessons to take away from understanding how indigenous peoples live. In today’s interview, the researcher Yi-An Grace Gao will share her expertise and knowledge on indigenous study and her own personal experience as a Taiwanese Atayal people and how she sees today’s Finnish Sami people. Across the boundaries between East and West, it is the time to listen indigenous people’s voice." - Description from DongXiNanPei Radio Program Producer/Author Yilin Lee-Setälä URL https://www.facebook.com/dongxinanpei/photos/a.347843918618481/1985622468173943/?type=3&theater Persons Wasiq Silan Title Suomi 100 celebration series: My research and encounters with Indigenous Peoples Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet DongXiNanPei Radio Media type Radio Country/Territory Unknown Date 27/09/2017 Persons Wasiq Silan Title Observations on Christmas Holidays in the Nordic Countries: case of Finland Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet DongXiNanPei Radio Media type Radio Country/Territory Finland Date 21/12/2013 Description [北歐聖誕節慶系列:芬蘭] Persons Wasiq Silan, Lucy Tung, Huan-Ya Chen-Ketonen, Chia-Enn Li Title Life Experience from a Degree Student Perspective Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet DongXiNanPei Radio Media type Radio Country/Territory Unknown Date 09/09/2013 Description [留學生活] Persons Wasiq Silan, Hongda Lin, Chien-Ting Jessie Hsu Title Experiences of Studying Abroad and Living in Finland Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet DongXiNanPei Radio Media type Radio Country/Territory Finland Date 04/03/2012 Description [異國留學經驗和生活體驗] Persons Wasiq Silan, Teemu Reisbacka, Hongda Lin
