Description

Biocomplex is specialized in macromolecular sample preparation and purification for functional and structural studies using preparative ultracentrifugation, asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation, and monolithic chromotography. Biocomplex is part of the national Instruct-FI network and Biocenter Finland. Biocomplex, cryo-EM, NMR, and protein crystallization core facilities form Instruct-HiLIFE platform, which operates both at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Institute of Biotechnology (HiLIFE). Instruct-FI is on the Finnish Research Infrastructure road map 2014-2020. Instruct-FI coordinates the structural biology research infrastructure activities in Finland and operates as the Structural Biology Programme of the Biocenter Finland.
Instruct-ERIC is a pan-European research infrastructure in structural biology, making high-end technologies and methods available to all European researchers. Instruct services and expertise are provided in the Instruct Centres. The main experimental technologies are complementary, and increasingly link detailed atomic structure with cellular context. Services include sample preparation methods, biomolecular analysis techniques, and 3D structural analysis. Biocomplex services are part of the Instruct-ERIC Centre Finland and provided through funded Instruct-ERIC Access. Biocomplex operated as one of the Instruct Centres in 2009-2017 (ICVIR, Instruct Centre for Virus Production).
