Description

The Environmental laboratory provides research and teaching facilities for analyzing the chemical and physical properties of surface and ground water, soils, sediments, biological samples, rock digests and experimental solutions. The laboratory contributes to major research programs in Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Climate Research and Geochemistry. The analytical facilities are partly shared with the Department of Chemistry. The laboratory provides analytical services for the Department of Geosciences and Geography, Department of Chemistry and the Finnish Museum of Natural History. The laboratory participates regularly in the NIva intercalibration exercise. The analytical methods conform to SFS, ISO and EPA standards.
