Organisation Profile

Affective Geographies and Politics of Education (AGPE) is a research group dedicated to understanding the dynamic landscapes of learning and educational politics, as well as issues related to young people’s participation and spatial justice within urban environments. AGPE explores these themes from the perspectives of nonrepresentational theory and feminist geography, using Participatory Action Research (PAR) approaches in collaborative research with young people and other marginalized groups.

Our research is driven by fundamental questions about the spatiality of learning and the affectual landscapes within which it takes place, probing questions such as: What is learning from a geographical point of view, and which forms of learning hold precedence today? What are the political implications underlying the construction of subjects? How can education foreground a politics of difference through emphasizing relational learning?
