Helsinki research community of special educational needs (SEN)

Organization profile

Helsinki research community of special educational needs (SEN) wishes to promote inclusion, academic success and well-being of youth with and at-risk for disabilities and difficulties.

In the research community we focus on supporting children, youth, and young adults with and at-risk for disabilities and difficulties across the lifespan. Through supporting, we wish to promote inclusion in school and society, academic success, and well-being. To achieve our goals, we engage in teacher training, conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research using a variety of methodologies, and consider the myriad of societal factors that affect youth. In addition, we solicit research funding, disseminate information, train the next generation of scholars, and promote national and international collaboration with researchers, educators, and advocates.
