Organisation Profile

Our research group turns food for thought into action. We consider our food-research to be an interdisciplinary challenge toward a sustainable future, in social, economic, and environmental terms. We therefore aim to contribute toward a better understanding of managerial, economic and behavioural issues in food systems, their firms and managers, focusing on three themes. First, the role, functioning and sustainability of food value chains and regional firm clusters, with a focus on inter-firm alliance management, regional specialization and a life-cycle perspective of assessing environmental issues. Second, we aim to improve our understanding of sustainability in the context of network structures and network dynamics, considering not only individual-level networks but also organizational networks and their embedded norms (social capital). Third, we take issue at innovation in food systems, focusing on the management and performance of both organizational innovations and information sharing in food systems. To address these three areas, we combine our backgrounds in economics, management and psychology, attempting to apply both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
