Organization profile

Our research group has for decades studied the pathogenicity, clinical picture and immunological responses built against DNA viruses.  Our research portfolio includes parvoviruses and herpesviruses, as well as many others that have been discovered during the last decade (e.g. polyomaviruses and anelloviruses).

We have developed highly sensitive methods (qPCR, NGS, Luminex based) for detecting viral DNA, many of which are currently in clinical use. This includes innovative point-of-care diagnostic tools based on Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET). We have also developed a fully automated bioinformatics pipeline for data analysis.
