Aleksi Knuutila is an anthropologist and data scientist. His work focuses on two main areas: the verification of online information in political contexts and conflicts, and the application of machine learning in social sciences and investigations. He currently leads projects examining how eyewitness images from conflicts become accepted as evidence through "networked verification". In parallel, he explores how generative AI models can be used as tools for social research, particularly for the analysis of visual information.
