My primary research interests are related to the developing of the RNA-based agents to combat pathogenic microorganisms. To this end, I establish new methods of enzymatic RNA production, expand an array of current approaches for RNA purification and characterization, and I am also involved in testing of the effects of generated RNA molecules on the target microorganisms.

I participate in teaching of several courses in Microbiology and Virology offered by the University of Helsinki, both at the Bachelor's and Master's levels.
