Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

My research focuses on peatland vegetation and biogeochemical processes linked with carbon cycle. In my current UH funded post-doctoral project Young fens – ecosystems on the edge under changing climate I study impacts of land use change and warming on young fens. I study mechanisms behind the sensitivity of mire ecosystems to changes in water level and to warming, in terms of carbon gas exchange, vegetation responses and soil processes. The aim is to quantify the external forces needed for the regime shifts between mire and forest ecosystem.
