Description of research and teaching

Dr Anna Ripatti, art and architectural historian, is University Lecturer in Art History.

Her research interests include the histories of architecture and visual culture, cultural history and art historiography in the long nineteenth century and beyond, in Nordic countries and France. She has published several monographs, edited volumes and peer-reviewed articles in journals such as The Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians and The Journal of Architecture.

Her current research project examines architectural standardization and the formation of class and gender through architecture in mid-nineteenth-century France. She is also the PI of the research project The Political Agency of Architecture in Revolutionary Europe 1830–1930, funded by Emil Aaltonen Foundation.

She teaches courses on a variety of subjects related to her research interests. She is a supervisor for Doctoral Programme in History and Cultural Heritage.
