Description of research and teaching

Anna Uitto is the professor in biology education and the director of the research group focusing on biology education and the education for sustainable development (ESD). Her current research interests are inquiry-based learning (IBL), conceptual learning, gene education and socio-scientific issues in biology education, out-of-school learning environments and the use of mobile gaze tracking in studying learnign in nature environments, as well as sustainability education especially the role of school culture in ESD. Currently she has research and development projects in the secondary school on digital gaming and inquiry approach in  outdoor education. Besides research, she has published learning material for teacher education and science education for schools.
