Description of research and teaching

My background is in population and conservation genetics. I started my research on population genetics and phylogeography of north European Atlantic salmon during my masters studies at the University of Oulu and continued to a PhD on the same topic at the Universities of Helsinki and Turku under the supervision of Professor Craig Primmer. My PhD thesis is titled "Phylogeography and population genetics of north European Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)".

Currently I work as a senior advisor in doctoral education at Viikki and Kumpula campuses. I plan and organise the activites of two doctoral schools:
Doctoral School in Environmental, Food and Biological Sciences
Doctoral School in Natural Sciences
