Ari Helo (Ph.D) is a Docent/Adjunct Professor in Intellectual History. He has taught and done research in Cultural Studies (University of Vaasa), Intellectual History (University of Oulu), American Studies (University of Helsinki), and in Early American Studies (University of Virginia). Helo's books and scholarly articles have been published in Britain, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, the Netherlands, Russia, and the United States. His award-winning book, Thomas Jefferson's Ethics and the Politics of Human Progress (Cambridge University Press, 2014), was characterized as "an exhilarating intellectual ride" in The American Historical Review. His third monograph is History, Politics, and the American Past: Essays on Methodology (Routledge, 2020).
