Description of research and teaching

I am a doctoral researcher in general linguistics with a specialization in typology and formal pragmatics.

My thesis work focuses on extended functions of reported speech constructions. In several unrelated languages of the world, reported speech constructions are used to express other meanings than utterance reports. These meanings can range from lexical categories e.g. volition, apprehension, desire and attempt, to verbal categories e.g. aspect and evidentiality.

My research is carried out within the project Language emerging from human sociality: the case of speech representation (PI Stef Spronck).

During the course of my research at HY, I have taught two courses, an introduction to formal pragmatics at the German Department Pragmatik des Deutschen and at the General Linguistics Department Anthropological Linguistics together with Dr. Gruzdeva.
