Description of research and teaching

I teach and research at the intersection of these areas: social theory, cultural socology, historical sociology and globalization studies.

My aim is to bring theoretical considerations to history and historical considerations to theory.

I have written about a wide range of different things in that light.

Currently I have particular interests in the history and globalization of wine, tea and other drinks and foodstuffs.

Some of my work has been translated into Chinese and Arabic.
