Description of research and teaching

Denise Salin is Academy Research Fellow in social psychology at the Swedish School of Social Science. Her research areas are organizational behaviour and gender in management. She has published actively on the topic of workplace bullying: its causes, consequences and employee and organizational responses. Her research interests also include organizational justice, employee work attitudes and gender. Her current research projects are about employee responses to workplace mistreatment, factors affecting employee job satisfaction, commitment and turnover intentions and global differences in HR perceptions of and responses to mistreatment. She is also interested in how the social power of targets (e.g. in terms of gender and ethnicity) shapes perceptions of negative acts and responses to them.

Denise has received funding for full time research from the Academy of Finland from January 1st 2014 to August 31st, 2018 to undertake  the project  ”Perspectives on and reactions to workplace bullying: implications for human resource management Dr Salin is also affiliated with Hanken School of Economics (Associate Professor, currently on leave of absence) and Åbo Akademi University (docent/"adjunct professor" in workplace psychology) 

Denise Salin has actively acted as a reviewer for international journals and international funding agencies and been an external examiner for dissertations on workplace bullying in different countries. She has extensive teaching experience and has been responsible for courses on work and organizational psychology, leadership, organization theory, conflict management, research methods and strategy.  She has supervised students working on their Bachelor, Master's, MBA and doctoral theses.
