Background of research

My research investigates English as a lingua franca (ELF) as a means of communication in academic settings. The purpose of my research is to examine teaching through ELF from the perspective of teaching and assessment in higher education. In addition, the research seeks to illustrate how and why current language assessment tools are deficient and to establish what aspects should be considered in order to develop criteria for the evaluation of professional language proficiency in an English as a lingua franca academic setting.
