Curriculum vitae

Ere Nokkala is a Researcher at the University of Helsinki. He studies early modern German and Swedish intellectual history. His book, From Natural Law to Political Economy: J.H.G. von Justi on State, Commerce and International Order was published in 2019 by LIT Verlag (Open access https://www.lit-verlag.de/media/pdf/be/e5/0b/9783643910356.pdf)

He is the co-editor of the volumes Cameralism and the Enlightenment: Happiness, Governance and Reform in Transnational Perspective (Routledge, 2020) and Political Reason and the Language of Change: Reform and Improvement in Early Modern Europe (Routledge, 2023).

Nokkala is codirector of the International Research Network on Cameralism across the World of Enlightenment, member of the executive committee of the European Society for the History of Political Thought and co-convenor of the Enlightenment Video Club.

He has held fellowships at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study, The Göttingen Institute for Advanced Study and Herzog August Bibliothek. PhD 2010 European University Institute, Florence.
