Personal profile

Curriculum vitae

Andersson is an active and independent scientist with more than 80 peer reviewed publications in scientific journals, 6 book chapters and multiple technical reports and popular science items (h-index 42). He has attracted over 6 million EUR of competitive research funding as principal investigator (coordinator or WP lead) since 2010 and collaborate with a wide international network of scientists and organisations. His teaching experience includes corse development and responsibilities at 1st, 2nd (especially) and 3rd cycle, and supervision of Bachelor, Master and Doctoral students. He is currently the main supervisor for two PhD student and four postdocs, co-supervisor for another five PhD students, and has been the primary supervisor for four postdoctoral researchers, one graduated PhD and co-supervisor for a second. In addition to students and postdocs, Andersson has led and mentored inter- and transdisciplinary teams of 10-20 junior to senior scientists for the last five years, which is a role very similar to that of a supervisor, even if the supervised people already have their PhDs.

Outside academia, his transdisciplinary research is paralleled by engagement and collaboration with civic, public and private actors, with tasks and activities such as being a member of expert panels and advisory boards, or acting as a broker of scientific knowledge in diverse initiatives exploring and testing pathways towards more sustainable urban development. In 2021 Andersson was awarded the BiodivERsA Prize for Excellence and Impact for his project ENABLE (more than 100 academic publication and extensive outreach). Andersson has also been the Associate Editor in Chief for the journal Ambio for the last two years (with long-term editorial work for Ambio and Sustainability Science). Andersson has formal and informal responsibilities for external networks and collaborations (signatory for collaboration agreement and MOUs with academic and non-academic partners), partial employer responsibilities (shared with the Stockholm resilience Centre leadership) for research assistants, PhD students and postdocs, and is an active member in several university boards and committees.
