Research

I am a postdoctoral researher working in the MAPHEL project (Mapping the linguistic landscape of the Helsinki Metropolitan area, PI Assistant Professor Tuomo Hiippala). The project is funded by the Emil Aaltonen foundation. For more information, visit our web page: https://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/thiippal/maphel/index.html. I work as an ethnographer in the project and conduct fieldwork at various locations in the Helsinki region.

I did my doctoral research in a project called Language Regulation in Academia (LaRA, web page http://www.helsinki.fi/project/lara/) directed by dosent Anna Solin. The project was funded by the Kone Foundation, and it started in January 2015. My main focus was to look at how language professionals use and regulate their own and other's language in academia.

I received my Master's degree in the University of Helsinki in February 2014. The title of my master's thesis was Construing Identities and Competence: L2 English Speaker Perceptions (https://helda.helsinki.fi/handle/10138/152688).
