Description of research and teaching

Doctoral researcher (grant-funded)

I work at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki, with a working grant by the Finnish Cultural Foundation starting in August 2025. My dissertation research focuses on the coherence of science teacher education. In my dissertation, I examine different ways to support and enhance the integration of theory and practice in science teacher education programs. As part of my research on coherence, I aim to investigate ways in which science teacher education programs can support the development of shared visions regarding teaching and the goals of the program. I am also interested in investigating the development of pre-service teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) during their studies.

I have three years of experience (2022–2025) in teaching physics and chemistry, and during the past two years I have also worked as a supervising teacher for teaching practice at the University of Helsinki Teacher Training School.
