Description of research and teaching

Johan Bärlund is from February 1st 2015 Professor in Nordic Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki. From August 1st, 2018 to December 31st, 2022, he was rector at the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki.

Johan Bärlund's main areas of interest in research are consumer protection, contract law, market law, tort law and personality law from a Nordic perspective. The most recent research articles have a focus on Nordic contract law and advertising law. 

Johan Bärlund's main areas of teaching are consumer law, contract law, market law and tort law. In the 1990's he also taught matrimonial law.
