Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I am a doctoral researcher at the Doctoral Programme in History and Cultural Heritage at the University of Helsinki. My research focuses on the early history of insulin treatment in Finland. I am particularly looking at the circulation of knowledge and the role of scientific communities and transnational networks in the introduction and development of insulin-based diabetes care in Finland in the 1920s-1930s. My research project is entitled "Navigating a medical breakthrough: Insulin, the Finnish scientific community, and the transnational efforts to treat diabetes in the 1920s and 1930s."
