Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I’m doing research on Uralic languages mostly from comparative-historical perspective, focusing currently on Finnic and Saami languages. Some recurring themes are derivational morphology, non-initial-syllable vowels, etymology and loanwords. I’m also taking part in building the online etymological dictionary of oldest Finnic vocabulary. Previously I have been involved in the development of a morphological analyzer (Omorfi) and a named entity recognizer (FiNER) for Finnish.
