Curriculum vitae

I am Professor of Cooperative Law at the University of Helsinki from the beginning of 2019 (at this moment, 20 per cent work load). I have worked at the University of Oslo Faculty of Law as Professor of Law from September 2015. Previously, I held the chair of Commercial Law law at the University of Turku Faculty of Law, being the last years the Dean of the Faculty. I hold a title of docent in law and economics at the University of Helsinki and at the University of Eastern Finland.

At the University of Oslo, I am the deputy head of the Research Group Companies, Markets, Society and the Environment (www.jus.uio.no/companies) and leader of UiO:Nordic Research Group Futuring Sustainable Nordic Business Models (https://www.jus.uio.no/ifp/english/research/projects/futuring-nordics/index.html). At the University of Helsinki, I teach cooperative law and corporate sustainability. At the University of Oslo, I teach mostly law and economics. I am the risk manager at the Sustainable Market Actors for Responsible Trade (SMART) project, funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 program (www.uio.no/smart). 

In research and teaching, my fields of expertise are corporate and cooperative law, corporate governance, finance and securities law as well as law and economics. I have written several books and articles either alone or with colleagues on these subjects in English, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish. Now I work mainly with articles concerning sustainable business models, digitalisation and cooperativism, institutional investors, public market actors and theoretical framework on the regulatory dynamics between the public and the private.

I am member of the board of the University of Turku and member of the scientific council of the State Audit Office of Finland. Previously, I have previous been the chairman of the Audit Board of the Finnish State, vice chair of the Redemption Board of the Central Chamber of Commerce Finland as well as a member of the European Commission's advisory group on corporate governance and company law. Before my professorships, I was for a while a senior officer at the Ministry of Justice, Finland.

My goal is to deepen my understanding of and skills in business law and its role in the society.
