Description of research and teaching

Kaisa Torkkeli, PhD, is working currently as a project manager related to the FINSCI research project in Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre. She studies, developes and facilitatates inclusive practices of science centres, for example, by means of co-creation in a collaboration with science centres, under-served audiences and various stakeholders. An underlying aim is the democratization of science capital. In her PhD dissertation (2022), Torkkeli analysed and conceptualised everyday foodwork practices of families with children by applying practice theories. The dissertation highlights sociological perspective of home economics science.
