• Principal topics: Mechanisms of steroid hormone action, inherited disorders of cholesterol metabolism, molecular genetics of severe cardiac arrhythmias, genetic mechanisms underlying human hypertension
• Over 300 scientific articles, supervised 17 theses
• Awards: Lauri Saxen Award 1999, Matti Äyräpää Award 2005

• Teacher at the University of Helsinki since 1972

Clinical activities:

• Clinician at the Department of Internal Medicine of the Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH) since 1978
• At present: Chief Physician (adjunct position) at HUCH, consulting in diagnostics and treatment of patients with resistant hypertension
