Kyllikki Tiensuu

Dr. Kyllikki Tiensuu (born 1945 in Parkano, Finland) is a university lecturer in Church History since 2003 and an acting professor in Church History 2010–2011 at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Theology. In several periods she has worked in the Faculty as an acting professor in Church History and as a researcher since 1 August 1994.

Her research interests concern Finnish Church History in the 19th century. She wrote her dissertation on Dr. Edvard Bergenheim, the archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland in 1850–1884. Among other things, she has published studies on the history of the Chapter of the Archdiocese of Turku in 1828–1870 and the Diocese of Porvoo in 1870–1923.

She was a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies 2004–2010  and a member of the Board of Finnish Graduate School of Theology 2000–2011. She was a member of the board (1986–2006) and the chairperson (2000–2006) of the Finnish Society of Church History. In 2000–2008 she was a member of the Academic Committee of the Centro Internazionale Brigidino di Farfa which is an ecumenical Italian-Nordic centre for academic studies, located in Italy.

In recent years, her main field of interest has been in pedagogical practices of higher education. She has been a member of several committees and working groups concerning teaching and learning both on the university and the faculty level at the University of Helsinki.
