Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I am working as a Doctoral Candidate in the Centre of Excellence in Law, Identity and the European Narratives (EuroStorie) at the University of Helsinki. I am a PhD student in the Doctoral Programme in Political, Societal and Regional Change and I have a background in Area and Cultural Studies and Social Sciences. My research focuses on transnational migration, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa towards Europe, and on securities on multiple levels of society. I have been especially interested in Europe's relations with other world regions, post-colonial power dynamics as well as various types of mobilities and cultural encounters.

I teach in the Bachelor's Programme in Cultural Studies, the Master's Programme in Area and Cultural Studies as well as in the Master's Programme in European and Nordic Studies, and my courses focus mainly on migration, security and human rights.
