Personal profile

Research interests

I am a docent in forest ecology and a visiting researcher at the University of Helsinki. My main position is as the Head of the Carbon Cycle Group at the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

My research focuses on the carbon cycle in forests, urban environments, and agriculture. I am particularly interested in ecosystem-atmosphere interaction, soil carbon and eco-physiological functions of plants. My motivation lies in finding solutions to enhance carbon sequestration through various land-use practices while taking into consideration other ecosystem services such as biodiversity and well-being.
