Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I hold a permanent position of University Lecturer of French Philology at the Department of Languages of the University of Helsinki (Finland), but I currently work as a University Researcher at the same department. My main research project at the moment is directed towards the prosodic features, the foreign accent and the liaison phenomena in the speech of Finnish-speaking learners of French. The project is funded by the Maija Lehtonen Fund from 1 September 2020 until 31 August 2023.

I also work on several other research projects that are related for example to different aspects of the speech and interaction of persons with autism spectrum disorder as well as to French and Finnish prosody. My methodological background is mainly in conversation analysis and prosodic analysis.

I am the Director of the Master's Programme in Languages and the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Puhe ja kieli ('Speech and Language'). I teach at the French section of the Department of Languages (on B.A. and M.A. levels). In addition, I supervise several Master's theses and PhD dissertations.
