Description of research and teaching
Mikko Immanen is Academy Research Fellow in the Centre for European Studies and visiting fellow in the Italian-German Historical Institute in Trento, Italy (2025-26).
His research focuses on modern European thought. Among his works are Adorno’s Gamble: Harnessing German Ideology (2025) and Toward a Concrete Philosophy: Heidegger and the Emergence of the Frankfurt School (2020), both with Cornell University Press.
His current project, “Probing the House of the Hangman: Jewish Intellectuals and Post-Nazi Germany” (2024-28), funded by the Research Council of Finland, explores German Jewish perceptions of Germany’s reconstruction after World War II.
