Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I did my Bachelor and Master of marine biology degrees at the University of Southampton, UK (2008 – 2012). Currently, I am doing a PhD on animal contest behaviour, using crayfish as my study species.

My aim is to test different contest behaviour theories and models under ecologically significant manipulations, namely food, predation threat, and offspring. The main question is, how payoff asymmetries influence social hierarchies that are based on asymmetries in resource holding potential (RHP). In addition, I will be looking at the possible trade-off between pigmentation and immune defence, and their effect on contest behaviour.
