Naser Hossein Motlagh (IEEE senior member & ACM professional member) is an Academy Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki. He received the D.Sc. degree in networking technology from the Department of Communications and Networking, School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University, Finland, in 2018. He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Information and Communication Technologies from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and the University of Vaasa in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Previousely, he was a Postdoctoral fellow within the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT) – Helsinki Center for Data Science (HiDATA) program. Dr. Motlagh has also been a resaerch fellow within the Nokia Center for Advanced Research (NCAR) at  the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki, where he is an active member. He contributes to teaching networking technologies and supervises students in Computer Science. Dr. Motlagh was the local organizing co-chair for the 21st ACM MobiSys 2023 and the organizing chair of the International Workshop on Advances in Environmental Sensing Systems for Smart Cities (EnvSys) in 2023 and 2024, held in conjunction with ACM MobiSys. He is also the appointed local organizing chair for the 2025 IEEE World Congress on Services. His research interests span the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks (WSN), environmental sensing, smart buildings, and unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles (UAVs & AUVs), focusing on the development of networks, platforms, sensing solutions, and applications for smart environments.
