Curriculum vitae
I am a Professor Ibero-Romance Languages. My research focuses on pragmatics and variation in Spanish and Portuguese. I am particularly interested in the use of pronouns and other referential devices in spoken and written language and the interrelations between language and gender. The theoretical framework of my research is usage-based functional linguistics.
My teaching focuses on pragmatics, variation and sociolinguistics as well as research methods in the master level studies. I am also the coordinator for Portuguese, Basque and Galician languages and responsible for planning the teaching for these areas. I supervise MA theses and PhD theses related to Ibero-Romance Languages.
