Description of research and teaching

 

Research

  • Income Inequality: The focus is to reveal the developments of income inequality and the central factors influencing it in a long run utilizing especially tax statistics (1865-) in Finland.
  • Social Mobility: The aim is to examine social mobility or intergenerational occupational persistence in Finland starting from the eighteenth century. The research base on mainly the data gathered from the genealogical records.
  • Marriage Patterns and Homogamy / Heterogamy: The purpose is to investigate the marriage patterns and the rate of heterogamy marriages between spouses which have different / similar social status origin.
