Description of research and teaching

PhD Rose-Marie Peake specialises in early modern history, especially France, gender, body, and sexuality. She is currently working on her postdoctoral project entitled "Emotions, Female Identities, and Transgressive Sexual Culture in Catholic Reformation France" at the faculty of Theology. She is also director the Kone foundation funded project "Kahisevaa taftia ja karheita nunnakaapuja: muoti ja sen kritiikki barokin ajan Pariisissa" on fashion and counterreactions in Paris in the age of the Baroque.

Peake earned her PhD at the University of Helsinki in 2016. Her thesis is entitled "The Daughters of Charity and Moral Management in Seventeenth-Century France: Creating Conservative Catholics, Securing Survival".
