Description of research and teaching

My research topics include:

  • soil contamination and remediation
  • sorption properties of tailings from apatite ore mining
  • utilisation of mine tailings in the remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil
  • wastewater treatment by means of industrial by-products
  • adsorption properties of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC)
  • treatment of acid mine drainage and neutralised mining effluents by means of NFC


I work as a university lecturer in environmental soil science. I am the responsible teacher of the following courses: Environmental soil science laboratory I -course, Plant nutrition and soil fertility and Soil science readings II. I also participate in teaching in e.g. the following courses: Introduction to sustainability science, Human iteractions with nature, ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles, and Herbicides.
