Description of research and teaching

In my doctoral dissertation I study the historical language contact situation in Western Ingria and Northeastern Estonia from the point of view of family-internal borrowing of vocabulary. The Finnic varieties examined are Vote, Ingrian, and the Estonian Northeastern Coastal dialects, as well as Ingrian Finnish. My supervisors are Riho Grünthal, Professor of Finnic languages at the University of Helsinki, and Karl Pajusalu, Professor of Estonian dialectology and history of the Estonian language at the University of Tartu, member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. The research is part of the project Change of Finnic languages in a multilinguistic environment, funded by the Kone Foundation.
