Curriculum vitae

To take care on our aquatic environment in a fast growing urban environment and developing methods to prevent damages and restore our waterbodies is most important for our common future. Linking fundamental science in ecotoxicology with applied aspects is my possibility to contribute to this.

RESEARCH FIELDS
In the fundamental aspects in Ecotoxicology my interest are on biotransformation systems of natural toxins and xenobiotics in aquatic organisms, mainly in aquatic plants and invertebrates. Furthermore oxidative stress and antioxidative defense systems as early markers for environmental pollution. In the applied aspect of my research I combine the gained fundamental knowledge for the development of sustainable methods for water purification. I developed a system called “Green Liver System” using the ecological service aquatic macrophytes supply for water purification. I conducted international projects in several countries of Europe, but also in Australia, PR China, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Kenia and South Africa.
